An international documentary entitled “Greece: An Economic Odyssey,” edited by journalist Irene Nikolopoulou, makes its debut on Monday, July 16 at 20:00. It will be exclusively presented by CNBC Africa and is expected to be broadcast internationally afterwards.
This documentary consists of four parts starting with the Age of Pericles showing ancient Greece’s most important historic points. It reports about Byzantium, the Turkish occupation in the country and continues on to the establishment of the modern Greek state and the devastation of Smyrna, the Greek Civil War until the country’s military junta in 1974.
This one-hour “Odyssey” presents many well-known moments of Greece’s history such as Manolis Glezos having raised the Greek flag at Acropolis during WWII, Maria Callas’ unique performance at the Herodion Theatre in Athens in 1957, young Greeks’ optimistic view of life as well as Renzo Piano’s Cultural Centre designed for the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center.
